THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WG-8268-10 AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1367000 is part of the MO 131st Bomb Wing. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Temporary vacancy NTE one year in the Excepted Service. This is a bargaining unit position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.

Duties

Performs maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systems. Troubleshoots, removes, inspects, installs, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, and/or tests pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipment. Accomplishes periodic and special inspections on hydraulic components. Inspects all components and subsystems for operation, internal, and external leakage and servicing. Operates portable test stands for checkout of pneudraulic system. Removes, installs, and/or repairs pneudraulic components from aircraft and associated aerospace ground equipment. Removes, disassembles, cleans, repairs, assembles components, and tests completed unit. Operates test equipment for all hydraulic components. Inspects for cracks, scratches, nicks, and holes on seals, gaskets, packings, and hoses. Modifies systems and their components. Rigs, adjusts, and aligns hydraulic components to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Polishes cylinders and pistons to ensure proper fit. Investigates pneudraulic failures to determine causes and accomplishes corrective maintenance. Performs installation, modification, and/or repair of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Determines repair procedures necessary to correct defective equipment. Diagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Under a temporary appointment, employment is subject to termination at any time.
  • This position can be filled up to four years as long as funds are available to support it.
  • In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the temporary appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.
  • Advanced in hire rate may be granted to set pay above the minimum rate of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualifications relevant to the positions' requirements and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission.
  • Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
  • The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Since the position is temporary in nature, the compatibility requirements will be waived for a period of time not to exceed one year. Selecting official must verify that selected individual is currently assigned to a military unit in the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not create grade inversion. Maximum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6) Minimum Military Grade - Amn (E-1) Enlisted - AFSC 2A6XX Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems. Must have ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling systems and major components of aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning and examining parts for corrosion, wear, scratches, cracks or other damage, replacing gaskets and other worn parts, and reassembling accessories. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedy when overall knowledge of the entire system is necessary in order to correct a malfunction. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience using and interpreting technical manuals, specifications and publications. Must currently hold or have held AFSC 2A6XX. This is an open continuous announcement.
