About the position:
This position will be assigned to the Barksdale AFB Library.
This is a Flexible position.
Intermittent (Flexible) employees have no guaranteed hours, but may work up to 40 hours a week. No medical, dental, retirement, sick, vacation benefits are available to flexible employees.
Duties
Responsible for assisting patrons with varying computer lab needs and with locating print/non-print materials within the library. Courteously assists patrons with accessing online resources (downloading e-books, audiobooks, and streaming videos) from various online databases from websites that provide CLEP/DANTES and other educational instruction for adults and homeschooling families. Responsible for assisting in creation/planning/execution of programming for adults, teens, and children, as well as assisting with social media presence. Responsible for assisting in the creation of various media displays throughout the facility.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Library, especially military library experience preferred. Completion of some college or a college degree is desirable. Must have computer experience or training in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), the internet and new technologies. Experience with Sirsi.net preferred. Strong customer service skills required. Strong typing skills are required; must be able to type 40 words per minute.
Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching; pushing loaded book trucks; and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. Must be physically able to frequently lift boxes of up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach 72 inches with or without the assistance of a step stool. Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
