About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war.JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution,and demilitarization of munitions.This position serves as a Fabric Worker located at Pine Bluff Arsenal, is a subordinate installation of JMC.

Duties

Operate seam seal machines, adjusting temperature settings for desired results. Substitute materials to achieve desired type and weight when specific materials are unavailable. Planning work based on instructions and work orders. Utilize shop mathematics to calculate dimensions and layouts of circles, angles, and irregular shapes. Use measuring devices to measure garment pieces, measure fabric and mark off locations for specialty stitches, hardware and metal fittings. Apply knowledge of fibers, fabrics and finishes for material selection.

Following instructions repetitively to meet specified quotas. Operating a standard industrial sewing machine to manufacture protective items. And Drawing, Altering or adjusting patterns for custom fittings and design features. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. They often stand at worktables for measuring, marking, and cutting materials, involving considerable stooping, bending, and kneeling. Their work requires constant use of arms, hands, and fingers for pulling materials, sewing, and using tools like shears and electric knives. They may work in cramped spaces, on ladders, scaffolds, or overhead. They frequently lift items weighing up to 30 pounds, and occasionally handle heavier items, up to 50 pounds, sometimes with assistance.They operate standard or high-speed industrial sewing machines, requiring skillful manipulation of materials and adherence to time and quality standards. This involves sitting for long periods with continuous movement of hands, arms, and fingers. They often lift objects like bomb shells or rocket casings, weighing 30 to 40 pounds, as well as cartons and materials up to 20 pounds, and sometimes up to 50 pounds. Some tasks require lifting about 60 pounds at a pace set by production standards. They might also pull or push hand trucks with several hundred pounds. The job necessitates a mix of sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, and prolonged standing, demanding endurance and eye-hand coordination for long periods. Workers often perform on hard surfaces and in positions that can be tiring and uncomfortable. Hand-trucks, dollies, and other workers are available for assistance with the heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS - Works in noisy environments due to sewing machines and may use protective gear like safety shoes, glasses, respirators, and machine guards. Work occurs both indoors in well-lit, ventilated, yet often noisy areas, and outdoors. Indoor workspaces may be drafty, and conditions can be dirty, dusty, and greasy. Workers spend long periods standing on concrete floors, frequently encountering wet conditions due to cleaning. They are exposed to harmful fumes from acids, solvents, chemicals, and explosives, posing risks of explosions and flash fires. Risks include serious injuries such as loss of life or limbs, burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, punctures, and nausea. Handling used protective and safety equipment carries a minor risk of contact dermatitis.
