You will serve as a ASSISTANT PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.to include work sites of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. . Applicants will only be considered for positions within their own UIC. For example: If you are within UIC 4523A, you will only be considered for positions within 4523A.

Duties

You will determine long and short range needs for resources such as manpower, materials, equipment and staff support. You will conduct meetings or briefings to ensure flow of information regarding production schedule, cost effectiveness, or material issues. You will direct production efforts committed to the sequencing of ship overhaul or repair projects. You will manage material or labor costs during the production phase to ensure proper execution of shipboard projects. You will develop short and long-range plans to provide manning, material, and equipment to support ship overhaul or repair projects. You will identify manning priorities and distribute personnel assignments accordingly.

  • This may be a Drug Testing position. If so, successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.

  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require exposure to high noise levels.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning, coordinating, and executing production work of various trades in support of ship system overhaul, repair, or modification projects to ensure completion of work phases in accordance with project schedules.
