This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Herndon National Guaranty Purchase Center in Herndon, VA. The incumbent serves as a Loan Servicing Assistant (LSA) in a center, and performs servicing, liquidation, purchasing and post-servicing (PSA) support functions in support of Loan Specialists (LS) in the Center.
Duties
Providing support services for the purchasing, servicing, and liquidation of commercial loans. Identifies loan documents and completes purchase packages.
Applying regulations for government loan programs. Determine eligibility of loan servicing actions by utilizing different types and variety of rules and regulations. Apply knowledge in making loan servicing actions.
Communicating orally with lenders with regard to problem loan situations. Communicating with lenders in cases of possible conflict.
Responds to oral requests from banks and borrowers and other financial institutions concerning: factual information on payments on loans, interest rates, loan balances, terms and conditions and other credit information.
Responsible for responding, follow up and resolving calls of either a general or specific factual nature from lenders, customers, or borrowers.
Preparing written reports summarizing analysis of problem loan situations. Responds to full range of inquires related to loan servicing.
Requirements

- You must successfully complete a background investigation.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
GS-07: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector such as:
receiving and distributing loan documentation and packages AND;
evaluating completeness of submitted packages by referring to established guidelines AND;
and corresponding with lenders on the phone or by email to answer questions and provide status updates.
