The primary purpose of this position, Supervisory Police Officer, GS-0083-11 is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the DAF civilian police officers. Provide anti-terrorism/force protection, preserve the peace, detect and investigate crimes against persons and property, apprehend/detain violators/ and assist base citizens in emergency.

Represent the Security Forces Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Perform and enforce the full range of police duties within the military installation.

- Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g. respirator mask).
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the Police Series, 0083. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills to plan, direct and oversee a security forces flight/section; directing a program segment or work that is administrative, technical, protective or comparable in nature; requires coordination with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on safety, policing and specialized police functions. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of law enforcement and anti-terrorism theories, principles, methods, techniques, and practices to establish policies and procedures and administer a comprehensive security/law enforcement protection program.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors
4. Ability to operate and direct others in operating under stressful and dangerous conditions.
5. Knowledge of the tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for prep ration and response to catastrophic events, enemy attacks, and related threats to installations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Additional Conditions of Employment:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, required initial and annual. Physical fitness/physical agility tests to include running, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast,and depth. The incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements. NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL.
Incumbent must be able to operate Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by HAF/A4S and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification.
Must obtain and maintain a government travel card
Must successfully complete the Air Force Civilian Police Supervisor's Course, or approved equivalent

Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance as a condition of employment.
Failure to meet conditions of employment may result in disciplinary action or termination.
Subject to duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard in accordance with AFI 36-2646.
This position has been designated as Key/Emergency Essential (E-E). In the event of a crisis, selectee must perform the Key/E-E duties until relieved. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Requires the incumbent be removed from military recall status.
