This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a military technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Knox East, located at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This position may offer a $10,000 recruitment bonus (see Additional Information Section).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.

Qualifications

POSITION IS ANNOUNCED AS A STANDING REGISTER (OPEN CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT): First cutoff date to evaluate candidates will be 28 June 2024 at 11:59 PM. Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: maintaining and repairing aircraft pneudraulic systems to include changing hydraulic pumps, repairing and replacing valves and actuating cylinders, replacing gaskets, seals, pistons, and bearings. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Required to sit, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in cramped, tiring, uncomfortable positions. Subject to high intensity and higher frequency sounds that impose a physical burden. May be required to lift and/or push heavy equipment and components weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally items weighing 50 pounds and more. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside shops or on aircraft, or outside in inclement weather; on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, engine noise, fumes, heat and blast. Exposed to grease, oil dirt, and hydraulic fluids and cleaning solvents. Subject to cuts, skin and eye irritations, falls, burns, and broken bones. The inherent danger of unstable working positions and rotor blades is always present.
