You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (AIRCRAFT) in the Quality Assurance Department of NATC MERIDIAN.

Duties

You will develop a quality assurance (QA) plan for supporting the acquisition, production, maintenance, storage, and supply for an organization. You will advise management of problems affecting quality assurance (QA) program processes. You will conduct follow-up audit to verify that corrective or preventive action has been implemented. You will use quality assurance (QA) methods, principles, and practices to identify cause of defects, failures, deficiencies, and cost effectiveness of assigned programs. You will serve as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) which plays a vital role in the administration, execution, and technical oversight of contracts. You will develop, administer, evaluate, and coordinate a comprehensive aircraft maintenance quality assurance programs designed to ensure that contractor maintenance, overhaul, and modification of products meet contractual requirements for quality. You will review contractor quality control plans, procedures, and practices in accordance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9110 precepts, and contract specific directives to assure adequacy. You will Identify, analyze, and provide solutions pertaining to acquisitions and quality for all aircraft systems and aircraft training systems/instruction. You will monitor and provide guidance and recommendations for contractor production challenges and shortfalls. You will serve as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) which plays a vital role in the administration, execution, and technical oversight of contracts. You will plan and develop the overall plans and approaches based on technical requirements, monitoring the application and effectiveness of controls and methods, and adjusting quality assurance activities as indicated by quality data trends.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing quality assurance inspections by using a database management system (i.g., NAVY NALCOMIS Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA), Optimized Intermediate Maintenance Activity (OIMA), Support Equipment Standardization System (SESS)) to review contractor quality assurance plans for compliance with contractual agreements. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position
OR
