The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Environmental Management - Headquarters is looking for a dynamic, innovative, seasoned executive to serve as the Office of Environmental Management's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) providing leadership, vision and developing mission strategies, policy, guidance, and requirements for the technology program in support EM's mission.

Duties

As the Chief Technology Officer you will: Provide operational oversight and management of the Technology Development Operational division, the Chief Engineer, the Laboratory Policy Office, and the field site technology development projects. Work with the LPO advisor to ensure a strategic vision is developed for the EM program towards assisting the EM Mission while leveraging the EM national laboratory capabilities. Leverage opportunities with other governmental agencies, as well as other DOE programs (ex. science, ARPA-E) to maximize the benefits of science and technology efforts. Establish/maintain a process to ensure that the project management requirements are implemented, and that external independent reviews are conducted on an annual basis. Ensure that a central database is established that highlights all the field activities being conducted around the complex, and available for senior management to track and monitor progress. Establish annual technology forums to provide a venue where the latest developments are communicated complex wide to continue to develop a viable, stronger program for EM. Ensure the TD program leads external TD reviews by entities outside of the DOE such as the National Academy of Science (NAS), Government Accountability Office (GAO) and others as identified.

Describe your ability to resolve difficult and or controversial technical issues, in support of operations, in a large enterprise organization which provides management and advisory services to a broad spectrum of nuclear and waste management program operations.
