About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate for Medical Services, Naval Hospital Pensacola (NHP), Pensacola, Florida. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Inputs patient information into the appropriate computer system(s). Receives all telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the Urgent Care Clinic. Performs routine office correspondence related to appointments schedules. The employee will be assigned to the Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) at where they will performs receptionist, record keeping, coding and all clerical duties related to patient treatment in the UCC. Additionally, may provide Medical Support Clerk support within the Directorate for Medical Services as directed by appointed supervisor. Schedules and coordinates follow-up care for patients' appointments.

Requirements

  • This position has a typing requirement of 40 words per minute typing speed.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, receiving/checking-in patients and visitors in person or telephonically; entering or retrieving patient medical demographic records; and utilizing automated healthcare systems such as MHS Genisis, Medical Records. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
