You will serve as a HEARING CONSERVATION TECHNICIAN of NMRTC JACKSONVILLE FL.
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
Duties
You will conduct baseline and monitoring hearing tests on personnel exposed to hazardous noise.
You will perform otoscopic examinations to determine the presence or absence of obstructions or abnormalities of the ear canal.
You will conduct daily performance checks on audiometric equipment to ensure normal operation.
You will assist the Senior Hearing Conservation Technician and/or the operational audiologist on all other phases of the Hearing Conservation Program.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience interviewing patients to obtain and record information on past noise exposure.
Experience conducting daily performance checks on audiometric equipment to ensure normal operation.
Experience recording results of hearing tests on proper forms and notes any changes.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
