The National Intelligence University (NIU) is the Intelligence Community's sole accredited, federal degree-granting institution. It serves as the intellectual hub for the intelligence profession, preparing today's leaders for tomorrow's challenges.
Duties
Serves as a faculty member at the National Intelligence University, teaching courses in the Data Science in Intelligence (DSI) concentration and/or technical courses in the Cyber Intelligence (CYI) concentration, as well as core intelligence courses in the Oettinger School of Science and Technology Intelligence.
Teaches technical courses in artificial intelligence, data science mathematics, advanced data science methods, and data science visualization and communication, artificial intelligence safety and ethics, geospatial data science methods, wargaming, simulation, and/or agent-based modeling. Teaches core intelligence courses in the S&TI school, will perform research in his/her field of expertise, and will serve as a thesis advisor/reader to students working in the data science or artificial intelligence or cyber intelligence disciplines.
Duties also include participation in relevant NIU and IC communities of interest, university committees and working groups, as well as outreach to other IC, USG organizations and academia as appropriate.
Implements and enforces appropriate learning standards and rigor, and uses outcome assessment data for course curricular, and program improvement.
Develops a rich learning environment through Learning Management System instructional technology. Represents the University at ODNI, IC agency meetings, conferences and symposia related to expertise, and maintains active liaison with government and private sector civilian, military, educational individuals associated with intelligence.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
Extensive professional experience in mathematics, artificial intelligence, or data science.
Excellent critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience relevant to (a) computer science/engineering, OR (b) scientific and technological innovations therein OR (c) artificial intelligence.
Demonstrated knowledge in artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence safety research, especially in an intelligence or military context.
Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering briefings to large and diverse internal and external audiences on complex or controversial topics and communicating them in an understandable manner that is appropriate for the audience, from students to senior level decision makers.
Interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team or collaborative environment; initiative in carrying out mission responsibilities based on supervisor guidance.
Master's Degree.
Desired Requirements:
Earned PhD from an accredited University in physical science or engineering, computer sciences, mathematics and statistics, other engineering, or a related area.
Experience with teaching courses at the graduate level. Demonstrated experience in academic research and scholarship, writing and reviewing research papers, and academic course and program development, including creating and evaluating academic assessment data and standards.
Education
