The incumbent of this position must possess the skill and knowledge to supervise, plan, train, and administer all elements of the Environmental Management Service program ensuring cleanliness/sanitation, pest management, textile management, waste management, setups, and personnel management for all areas of the Medical Center.
Duties
Incumbent supervises and plans work for employees in the program areas of waste management including sharps/regulated medical, pathological, residual chemotherapy waste, sensitive document destruction, and universal waste and recycling; in textile management including proper supply, distribution, and control of all patient care linens, employee uniforms, patient clothing, slings, and clinical support services and specialty linens; in sanitation management including strong inclusion of infection control, safety, hard floor and carpet care, upholstery, and non-critical reusable patient equipment, and water intrusion management. Incumbent must be skilled in operating all floor care equipment sufficient to train appropriate employees on safe and proper operation and maintenance; and in pest management practices to include awareness of invasiveness and prevention of pests including patient-transported bed bugs, lice, and scabies.
The incumbent plans with other supervisors and management the short term, project, and long-term staffing of the Housekeeping Aides under his/her supervision to assure work requirements are performed to maximize effectiveness, safety, teamwork, and customer service. The incumbent analyzes new and ongoing facility-wide programs and services to assure EMS staffing, supplies, and equipment enable effective response to programs or emergency situations.
The incumbent develops and conducts training for new staff, provides and arranges for special training, and assures competencies for specific duties and requirements to Housekeeping; inspects the quality of work to assure it meets or exceeds facility standards; assures corrections are completed and staff performance is documented timely.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts, nights/weekends/holidays to include, 7:00am - 330pm, 3:30pm - midnight, 11:00pm - 7:30am
