This position is located in the Patient Business Services/Patient Registration of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. The position performs registration and eligibility services to new and returning patients; interview patients for the purpose of obtaining patient demographic and insurance information; works with the Lead Contact Representative in screening for potential eligibility for services.
Certificates will be issued every 10 days until the positions are filled.
Duties

Assists in or completes/updates the data entry of the alternate resource and benefits coordination information into the computerized Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) for the organization.
Assures and/or initiates timely entry of Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and Medicare information to augment outpatient/inpatient billing efforts and to enhance access to health services or other medical specialty care.
Face-to-face or phone interviews with patients to obtain registration information relating to third party resources, patient demographic data, i.e., addresses, employers, next of kin, emergency contacts, etc.
Determines the eligibility of patients seeking health care, who have not previously been treated at the facility, by obtaining the certification of Indian Blood quantum or other documentary proof of tribal membership, according to the Indian Health Service guidelines.
Collects patients third party recipient health cards, obtains photocopies of the card and explains the program to the beneficiaries, including why Medicare, Medicaid or the private/commercial insurance will be billed for the services they received at the Indian Health Service facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-04 Grade Level
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. OR
Have 2 years of education above the high school level. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR
Have a combination of education and experience that when combined, fully meet the minimum qualification's for this position, The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify an applicant for the GS-04 level.
GS-05 Grade Level
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples of specialized experience include work experience that demonstrates knowledge of eligibility requirements for health care benefit programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Insurance, First Steps, and other similar resources to respond to inquiries from individuals as they relate to health services the medical facility can provide, solve problems or educate individuals about medical facility health programs and procedures. OR
Have completed 4 years of education above the high school level. NOTE: Once year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Transcripts Required). OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualification for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
