About the Position: As an Electrician Supervisor, you will serve as the supervisor over the Maintenance Section Electricians and the Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanics, exercising full supervisory responsibility over the work operations.

Duties

Plan the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors Investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines the cause. Recommend solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors. Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Participate with supervisors in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates and recommendations as to scheduling projected work. Maintains work reports and records.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered under certain civilian positions identified critical under the Department of the Army Drug FREE Federal Work Place Program.
  • Must possess Class A Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement. (Note: A copy of your valid Class A Commercial Driver's License must be submitted with this application in order to be considered eligible for this position.)
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 75% of the time.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential. Employee can be required to remain on duty or report for duty during contingency operations or other emergency situations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician Supervisor without more than normal supervision, which includes 1) Overseeing activities of the work crew; 2) Passing along instructions, assigning task, gaining cooperation, and setting pace of working assignments; and 3) Reading diagrams and performing troubleshooting layouts, complete installations, modifications, repairs on electrical systems.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Utilizes heavy physical effort in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls and to operate the equipment and attachments. Exposed to considerable strain due to the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Frequently works in awkward or strained positions due to the location of the controls and attachments. The employee also uses moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service lines, lower landing gears, and climbing on the trailer to load or tie down cargo. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all types of weather on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The employee is exposed to injury due to the possibility of equipment overturning. Subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. The employee operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. The employee also drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Note: Must possess Class A Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement.
