This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.
This position is located within the Drug Dependency Unit (DDU) located in the PHS/IHS hospital in Winnebago, Nebraska. The incumbent of this position will be required to work rotating shifts (days, nights and weekends).
Duties
Provides treatment and manages individual and group treatment plans for clients with a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency who may have a variety of other medical, psychosocial and environmental problems.
Develops comprehensive treatment and aftercare plans with specific recommendations that will facilitate the ongoing process of recovery. Conducts therapeutic activities including individual, group, family and marital counseling.
Monitors patient responses to medication and therapy. Documents all aspects of patient care including observations, treatments provided and patient responses to treatment and other recommendations.
Participates in planning, evaluating and promotion of the substance abuse program. Coordinates services with a wide range of tribal and community organizations.
Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: Provides therapy and treatment services to individuals and families in dealing with Alcohol and other Drug dependency and related problems. Conducts assessments and develops comprehensive treatment and aftercare plans. Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, providing updates to staff about resident behavior to track and ensure residents progress in treatment.
Selective Placement Factor: Professional knowledge of chemical dependency as evidenced by being a certified Chemical Dependency Counselor or a Licensed Addiction Counselor.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
