The purpose of this position is to provide a diversified and viable commercial sponsorship program to defray costs of events and solicit in-kind sponsorship for the Morale Welfare & Recreation (MWR) and War Fighter Services (WFS) throughout Fleet & Family Readiness (FFR) programs, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic. The duty station is JEB Little Creek/Fort Story.
Duties
Assist Supervisory Marketing and Communications Specialist with coordinating with a variety of personnel to identify existing opportunities and broaden programs or facilities that might benefit from commercial sponsorship. Identifies specific organizations, corporations, individual foundations, and other sources for sponsorship donations, advertising, or other support required to maintain or upgrade the FFR programs.
Responsible for maintaining accounting/record keeping, evaluation of events/advertising and follow-up communication with sponsors.
Assists with developing proposal packages and negotiates best terms for MWR. Initiates contracts and ensures they are reviewed by legal counsel, agreed to and signed by the appropriate person. Ensures the contractual "quid pro quo" is fulfilled through execution of considerations and completion of evaluation/proof of performance reports.
Provides visibility for the FFR program and disseminates information by making presentations to individuals or groups regarding FFR facilities, services, programs and special events available for commercial sponsorships and advertising.
Establishes and maintains continuous liaison with recreation program managers, key staff personnel, commands or groups to gather information pertinent to facility programs, services, events and advertising opportunities in an effort to solicit sponsorship and advertising.
Reviews programs and events, identifies problems or deficiencies and recommends appropriate changes to meet desires and needs of patrons served. Conducts a full range of ongoing patron surveys. Evaluates and interprets data obtained and provides constructive feedback to staff for the purpose of program modification and enhancement.
Establishes and maintains liaison with existing and potential sponsors, community businesses, corporate contacts, community service clubs, Chambers of Commerce and military support groups to gather information pertinent to soliciting sponsorship and advertising.
Represents the Commercial Activities (N94) on special event planning committees. Conducts special meetings with appropriate staff members to ensure deadlines, sponsorship and advertising fulfillment, equipment, materials, and departmental commitments are being met for each event. Attends sponsored events in progress.
Prepares purchase orders and contract requests in compliance with accounting standards for departmental and event-related purchases.
Performs other related duties for this position as assigned.

A qualified candidate possess the following:
Excellent communication skills both written and oral to solicit commercial sponsorship and advertising, negotiate agreements, and prepare proof of performance reports.
Knowledge gained through relevant experience which enables the incumbent to competently and independently carry out continuing commercial sponsorship and advertising programs.
Skill in the application and utilization of knowledge used to plan and carry out commercial sponsorship, advertising and special events activities which meet, as fully possible, the needs of the participating installation/community.
Ability to develop customized presentations and address groups.
Experience in coordinating large scale, complex activities and events.
Skill in organizing and planning events
Ability to evaluate the adequacy of programs and to make recommendations for improvement or correction.
Knowledge of military programs.
Knowledge of Commercial Sponsorship and Advertising.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Education
