The incumbent manages the professional and administrative functions of program under the Caregiver Support Program Office. The incumbent provides direct clinical services and manages the overall operations of the Support Line. The incumbent must be licensed at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide professional supervision. This vacancy may be filled in Washington, DC or a location to be determined. The location is negotiable upon selection.

Duties

Major Duties Include but not limited to: Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. Provides feedback and evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolve informal and formal complaints and grievances. Develops employee work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Provides advice and counsel to staff members related to work and administrative matters. Performs supervisory Time and Leave controls for subordinates. Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations and all aspects of the Support Line. Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to state, local, and national agencies, and universities. Technical assistance provided to monitor activities and program reviews, and the development and analysis of information. Performs program analysis, development, review, research, design, and contact work as possible with various agencies (public, DOD, state, etc.). Responsible for key project activities related to the planning, development, and implementation of the project component The workload directed by this position will be carried out through Caregiver Support Program. Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs. Performs Caregiver Support Line social worker duties on the call line as needed to cover a shift, breaks, lunch and vacations or to provide demonstration training. Works on assigned special projects for the National Caregiver Support Program Office and performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: M-F, 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm Telework: Available (applicant is required to work onsite 50% of work schedule per pay period) Remote: This is not a remote position. Virtual: The employee may work at a VA facility or other VA-leased space other than the facility that is hiring the employee and is authorized for telework up to 50%. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. Experience and Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Preferred Experience: Candidate's experience demonstrates a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience and working with Caregiver Support Program at the medical center or VISN level. Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 lbs.); light carrying (under 15 lbs.); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; walking (intermittent); standing (intermittent); hearing (aid permitted); clear speech. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
