Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for technical and analytical assistance to support the litigation needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) in regards to the Opiod Crisis.Typical work assignments will include: Provides consultation and assistance with data preservation and collection efforts; Documents case-specific discovery protocols and maintains chain of custody of the evidence; Manages internal and external discovery and forensic service providers; Provides consultation on the appropriate software and procedures for defensively identifying, preserving, collecting, processing, reviewing and producing electronic data; Customizes electronic and paper production specifications; Designs and creates litigation support databases utilizing various software products; Creates, modifies, imports, and exports load files; Prepares electronic document productions; Prepares and processes e-discovery; Analyzes, defines and creates case database and litigation support specifications; Installs, configures, and maintains litigation support equipment; Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-09 To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service; OR Education as explained below; OR a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience providing technical assistance to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions and trial preparation; and Maintaining tracking logs of case-specific discovery. Education: Possess one of the following types of education a Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree (such as a JD, LL.B or MPA); or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education was obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. (transcripts required) -OR- Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. ln order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. GS-11 To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must have at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service; OR Education as explained below; OR a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and system capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation, and trial presentation; applying knowledge of Federal Criminal and Civil Procedures, court requirements, and district practices to implement new and enhanced computer applications needed for criminal and civil cases; performing a wide range of information system analysis and development in support of District litigation support activities. Education: One of the following types of education a LL. M., Ph.D., MPA or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. (transcripts required) -OR- Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. ln order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
