The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement to safeguard personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and other resources for the Pentagon Reservation and designated DoD facilities (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities") within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Leads development of National Capital Region (NCR) DoD leased facilities site-specific force protection conditions development/implementation, countermeasures, and Antiterrorism AT plan development, testing, exercising, and ensures application. Develops goals and objectives integrating organization and protection objectives. Plans and schedules work in a manner promoting a smooth flow and even distribution. Ensures assigned staff supports leased facilities working groups, workshop, training, exercises, and provides advice, guidance and direction resulting in risk reduction. Ensures assigned staff conducts and coordinates follow up actions from vulnerabilities identified during higher headquarters assessment visits.

  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment and are subjected to random drug testing.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • The incumbent must adhere to DoD Standards of Conduct
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. This includes during national emergency situations.
  • This position is indexed as requiring the Security Fundamentals DoD Certification and the Antiterrorism Credential. The employee must obtain the required certification within two (2) years of entering on duty in this position.
  • The employee must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license from the jurisdiction where he or she resides.
  • The position is eligible for telework. The employee must meet all eligibility requirements prior to teleworking, including completion of required telework training, submission of all required paperwork and obtaining approvals.
  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.
  • This is a covered position and the person selected for this position must complete an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment pursuant to 5 CFR 2634.903(b) (DoD 5500.7).
  • The employee must complete Antiterrorism Level II Antiterrorism Officer, Physical Security, and Security Engineering courses within 18 months of being assigned contingent upon in-person.

Qualifications

In accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M, "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification," this position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Individuals who do not meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements must obtain it within two years after the first duty day in this position. Upon appointment to this position, the selectee must also sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements, as a condition to occupy the position, and agree to permit the DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position. Additional information about the SPeD Program can be found at: http://www.cdse.edu/certification/sped_what.html Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-14 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience leading the development of leased facilities site-specific force protection conditions development/implementation, countermeasures, and Antiterrorism (AT) plan development, testing, exercising, and ensures application. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GS-14 grade level.
