About the Position: This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) Ft. Moore, Georgia 31905. The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama.

Duties

Reviews completed work products or spot checks work in progress to ensure general adequacy and attainment of overall program objectives and deadlines. Makes general assignments, specifies desired results, and establishes deadlines for the work to be performed by subordinates taking into account known and potential future requirements. Determines and schedules career training. Plans goals and objectives of the office, and determines which projects to initiate, Prepares performance standards, appraisals, and awards.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must pass a Spanish/English translation test and maintain proficiency based on the organization's requirements and policies.
  • This position is a supervisory position within General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation may be required unless already served.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing translation and interpretation from English to Spanish and Spanish to English; consecutively or simultaneously interpreting from English to Spanish or Spanish to English during seminars, ceremonies, conferences, classes, and other similar events; developing work processes or methods to streamline and improve translation services; and developing translating/interpretation written operational procedures and plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires fluency in the English and Spanish languages.
