The primary purpose of this position, Electrician (Alarms and Appliance Repair Mechanic), WG-2805-10, is to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems, controls, and equipment.
Duty Title: Interior Electrical Journeyman
Duties
Install, repair, or replace, modify, load, and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
Troubleshoot problem areas and inspect for defective equipment and faulty wiring.
Perform maintenance, repair, operational (Functional), and final testing; final tuning; alignment; and/or calibration of moderately complex electronic control systems, components, and/or subassemblies.
Use and maintain various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.
Install, inspect, replace, adjust, troubleshoot, clean, repair, perform preventative maintenance on commercial and domestic appliances.

- Employee will be required to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
- This position may require the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.
- Will be required to train/guide lower grade (or other trades) civilian employees.
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- Flight line Driving/Testing is required.
- May be required to participate in mobility exercises.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800 Electrical Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability to Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Makes repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works both inside and outside. Sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, and greasy. May work on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet, or in close quarters such as manholes or attics. Subject to electrical shock, cuts, and bruises. May be exposed to temperature extremes in test facilities, extremely high noise levels, and exposure to lead, radiation, chemicals, or carcinogens.
