This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region in Parker, Arizona. The incumbent utilizes in-depth understanding and expertise in Electrical Engineering to analyze the inter-relationships concerning the San Carlos Irrigation Project's systems.

Duties

Executes decisions, plans operations, plan maintenance, work orders. Troubleshoot fault isolation, correction of electrical and mechanical systems and electrical components. Ensure proper technical practices and safety procedures are followed. Test, adjust, maintain, perform routine maintenance, and repair substation and metering equipment. Operate heavy equipment. Perform journeyman level class work in the electrical trade both manually and with the control system. Provide leadership and supervision to all subordinate electricians and staff.

  • Completed a 4 year journeyman certification in one or more in Power Plant High Voltage, Power Plant Operator, Power Plant Production, Power System Protection, Power Plant Electrician, Power Plant Instruments and Control or Power Plant Mechanic.

Traffic citations indicating poor driving habits may disqualify applicants. Physical effort: Works in cramped and awkward positions subject to considerable noise, heat, and danger for falling from ladders and scaffolding. Considerable amount of standing and hand and arm activity in operating manual and computer equipment. Heavy lifting required; subject to considerable noise, electrical shock; danger of falling. Working Conditions: Exposure to grease, oils, fumes, smoke, dust, wind and water; works from great heights and during seasonal temperatures ranging from 20 to 120F. Works around high voltage electricity and heavy equipment including mobile cranes, dump trucks, and front end loaders. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
