This position is that of Environmental Engineer Consultant for the Great Plains Area Office of Environmental Health and Engineering, Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction, Indian Health Service, located in Minot, ND. The incumbent serves in the capacity to assist the Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction staff in the implementation of the Public Law 86-121 on Indian Reservations within the Great Plains Area.
Duties
Perform all engineering tasks required for the design of individual and community sanitation facilities including water supply and distribution, sewage collection and treatment and solid waste collection and disposal methods
Approves planning proposals, feasibility studies and engineering designs developed by district technical staff and subsequently manages the overall work to enhance achievement of the goals and objectives.
Provides leadership and technical advice/consulting services to IHS staff and tribal officials on matters relating to sanitation facility project development.
Performs duties concerned with the administration of contracts for sanitation facility construction, insuring that actual construction complies with designs and specifications and safety requirements
Qualifications

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Collecting and analyzing data for design of new construction; approving planning proposals, feasibility studies, and engineering designs; performs site visits; investigates malfunctioning water and sewer system components; estimates cost, manpower, and material necessary to correct malfunctioning system.
AND
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
