This position is located in Service Center Operations Directorate, Vermont Service Center. As an Operations Support Specialist, you will provide a variety of essential services, like assisting management with administering policies and procedures, and providing guidance, instruction, and inspection for workplace safety and emergency management operations.

Duties

The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity. Serve as Emergency Management and Safety coordinator to oversee workplace safety and emergency management operations and contingency plans. Plan and coordinate a variety of emergency management exercises and analyze and report findings in after-action reports. Organize and deliver briefings to managers to promote understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of complex management support and administrative systems, programs and processes. Completes Collateral Duty Safety Officer, and Emergency Management Coordinator training. Utilize critical thinking skills to resolve or prevent operational, safety and emergency issues/situations.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/09/2024. GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Recording administrative transactions which may include preparing automated reports and spreadsheets; Communicating orally and in writing to develop and deliver briefings, project papers, statute/staff reports, and correspondence; Performing duties associated with day-to-day emergency management or safety operations. OR You may substitute successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or at least two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field related to the work of this position. GS-11: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Analyzing Data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, profiles, estimates, and studies; Develops detailed reports with findings based on analysis of emergency response, safety, and emergency management for a variety of audiences; Identifying and recommending solutions to a wide range of emergency management or safety issues. OR You may substitute successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field related to the work of this position.
