About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility MacDill Air Force Base East located at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
Duties
Instructs and evaluates rated pilots in basic, advanced and instruments flight procedures and maneuvers.
Provides aircraft qualification training to newly assigned pilots and maintains individual aircrew training records.
Serves as Standardization Pilot (SP) / Instructor Pilot (IP) and Instrument Examiner (IE) and helicopter pilot.
Establish work schedules and priorities for subordinates based on workload.
Responsible for the operation of the USAR Aviation Support Facility for the Army Reserve Aviation Command.
Performs duties relative to the flight training program as well as flight operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess a current first class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment.
- This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- This position requires an annual medical examination.
- This position requires a secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Basic Requirement: Possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates, and/or military rating, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the position. Your application packet MUST include a copy of your FAA certificates or military ratings. Flight hours MUST be included in the body of your resume
Flight hour requirements:
Total flight time - 1500 hours
Pilot in Command - 250 hours
Night flying - 75 hours
Flying Time, Last 12 months - 100 hours (50% may be waived for current employees)

Specialized Experience: Must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Performing various aviator duties, such as: Instructor Pilot (IP), Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP), Instrument Flight Examiner (IE), establishing work schedules, determining priorities, delegating responsibilities, providing feedback to employees, and setting performance standards; assisting with operational budgetary requirements; and providing training in all phases of aviation unit operations, aircraft maintenance and supply functions.
