About the Position: This position is located at Ft. Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.

Duties

Researcher for the AMCOM Combined Logistics Command (ACLC) on rotary wing aircraft assigned to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and satellite units. Provide oversight for contractor Maintenance operations, including field and sustainment Maintenance of the rotary wing aircraft fleet assigned to the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence and satellite locations. Monitor aircraft maintenance contractors to ensure required management action is initiated to support scheduled, safety-of-flight, configuration and maintenance-mandatory requirements within specified time frame in an efficient and effective manner. Plan, chair, and attend conferences with representatives of higher echelons, other DA and DOD agencies and industry representatives to discuss and resolve or participate in the resolution of problems.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Foundational acquisition certification, career field of Life Cycle Logistics , within 3 years of entrance on duty.
  • Rotating Shifts.
  • Pre-employment physical.
  • Lift up to 45 pounds.
  • This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing logistical support and guidance on maintenance procedures pertaining to rotary wing aircrafts; providing technical assistance in the operation, testing, or maintenance of aircraft systems and resolving field problems through technical research/investigations of materiel deficiencies and malfunctions; reviewing and applying practical and theoretical knowledge of assigned systems/aircraft for application to difficult and complex situations and problems that have no clear precedent; and implement outcome-based product support strategies that optimize readiness and life cycle cost affordability of rotary wing aircraft systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Maintenance Planning and ManagementOral CommunicationSystems Life CycleTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
