Duties
You will supervise the Applied Biology Branch in providing expert pest management consultation services.
You will provide Applied Biology program management and serve as senior pest management consultant for the Navy and Marine Corps.
You will review and approve installation integrated pest management plans, technical review reports, pest management training and other environmental products and services.
You will brief senior leaders and stakeholders on pest management issues and recommend corrective measures.
You will develop, review, and implement environmental policy and guidance.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Managing/leading teams or personnel by determining priorities, providing guidance and assistance on complex problems, and ensuring all products and services are technically sufficient and adhere to policy and milestones; 2) Applying principles of entomology; a deep knowledge of the current state-of-the-art as it relates to biology, ecology, environmental science, behavior and control of the particular problems encountered; and thorough understanding of the principles of associated fields; 3) Applying knowledge of resource allocation and execution and acquisition plan development to meet complex program requirements; and 4) Providing expert advice to senior leadership and collaborate with pest management stakeholders of widely varying backgrounds and positions to recommend policy and guidance. Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
PROFESSIONAL BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE 0401:
Applicants must possess a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience in one of the above majors that includes at least 24 semester hours in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience demonstrates that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four year course of study with a major as described above.
PROFESSIONAL BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN 0404:
Specialized Experience: Experience must have been related to the work of the position for which application is made. The specialized experience required for some positions in this series is normally work performed in a controlled environment. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
- Research activity or control program work.
- Nursery work that required the growing and maintenance of plants in a controlled environment.
- Work comparable to that with a large dairy farm where production records, animal environment, and sanitary conditions were kept in accordance with modern dairy practice.
Farming experience that was not performed in a controlled environment, or experience as a laborer who was not responsible for planning and scheduling his/her own work, but only performed assigned tasks, would not qualify as specialized experience.
