The position provides strategic and operational leadership, and direction for nursing services. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and supervises all Clinical Nurses, Public Health Nurses, Nurse Case Managers, Nurse Care Coordinators, Medical Support Assistants and Certified Medical Assistants.
Duties
Foster the Primary Care Patient Centered Model of Care through accountability by being responsible for making sure patients receive the best possible care; comprehensiveness by providing patients with all the care they need and information about the service they need.
Support and direct the implementation of the philosophy, objectives, policies, standards of clinical services and patient care for the Nursing Department and comply with legal, industrial and professional requirements.
Facilitate, oversee and evaluate educational and professional development activities to maximize nursing competence and efficiency to ensure the timely introduction and mastery of new skill.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIRMENTS
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Basic Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level. In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-12 Examples of Specialized Experience include: Assess plan, implement, direct and evaluate the care of patients, implement accreditation requirements, hear and resolve complaints from staff and/or patients, participate in committee such as: Infection Control, Performance Improvement, Environment of Care, or Risk Management to ensure quality care is delivered in safe conditions.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
