This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year, and can be extended up to 5 years.
This temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition.
Duty Location: Redding, California
Duties
Serves as an Electrician Job Lead on assigned project. The Job Leader leads a crew of electricians during each phase of project activities to ensure resources, including labor and materials, are utilized to provide the maximum effort to the project. The work schedule for the Job Leader shall be as required to perform the work. Scheduled overtime will be necessary to meet the project completion date and the Job Leader will be required to work the overtime.
Job Leader duties: Leads a crew of three or more employees. The job leader performs regular work that is the same as that done by the crew. The job leader works along with the crew and sets the pace; ensures that plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available; assigns immediate tasks to individual crew members; answers questions from workers on procedures; ensures the crew has enough work to keep busy; checks on work in progress and when completed; ensures that safety rules are followed; coordinates work with other crafts, operations, and/or engineering. Reports to the team leader or supervisor on the status and progress of work. The job leader may hold clearances for other members of the crew as necessary.
Electrician duties: Installs, maintains, repairs, electrical assemblage, troubleshoots, and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment of electric powerplants and primary electrical distribution systems. Connects Programmable Logic Control, solid state devices, and Sonic Liquid level devices, connects and services power transformers, distribution transformers, instrument transformers, switches, switchboards, meters, relays, cranes, elevators, and power circuit breakers. Plans and lays out routing, placement, type size gauge, balance, load, continuity, and proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls. Identifies need for and arranges, places and routes distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fittings, connections and controls. Installs wiring, conduit, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls. Installs switchboards and devices and wires them from drawings. Works on distribution voltage circuits and lines. Removes and installs new or repaired stator and field coils; wedges, ties, and tapes coils, and connections; silver braze welds stator and field connections. Removes and repairs stator irons.
Although duty-stationed in the Redding , CA, the incumbent of this position will be required to travel and work between NCAO Facilities as directed by management.
