This position is located in the Patient Accounts Section of the Facility Business Office at the PHS Indian Hospital, Pine Ridge, SD. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Third Party Reimbursement Program.
Duties
Maintains accounts by reviewing documents to verify accounting data as necessary, entering data into the system.
Maintain the automated accounts receivable ledger associated with third party payer claims.
Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation and recapitulation of third party billing to assure that collections, billed data, and the computerized and manual reports are in balance.
Completes special projects within required time frame to ensure compatibility of project specifications.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-04: One year of general experience OR, successfully completed 2 years of education above the high school level.
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Audits all documents received for completeness and accuracy; completes special projects within required time frame; prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation. OR, successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level.
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Submitting claims to third party payers and responsible parties, rebilling or correcting billing of accounts previously submitted; verifying the accuracy of payment history for the period involved, determines the extent of underpayment or overpayment; reviews and examines various bill types, of patient care to third party payers; prepare reports reflecting the examination made, discrepancies noted, and the corrective entries required adjusting accounts.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
