This position is located at the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Wanblee, South Dakota. This position is under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Psychologist. The clinic provides clinical behavioral health outpatient services for eligible beneficiaries located in Wanblee and the surrounding areas of the eastern and northern regions of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. *Recruitment Incentive authorized up to 15% of base pay with one year service agreement*

Duties

Performs individual, marital/couples, family, and group psychotherapies for children, adolescents, and adults with a wide variety of acute and chronic mental health problems including depression, suicide ideation/attempts, bereavement, psychotic episodes, family conflicts, substance abuse or dependence, and trauma resulting from violence or abuses of emotional, physical or sexual nature. Coordinates service provisions to patients and consults with professional colleagues as needed to promote optimal patient care. Utilizes knowledge of a wide variety of theories used in counseling and psychotherapy. Provides referral, intake, diagnostic, treatment, crisis intervention, and consultation services for mental health patients.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): OPM Link: Social Science Series 0101 (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide appropriate and therapeutic services to patients; providing consultation and technical assistance on prevention and educational information of suicide, behavioral health practices, and program development; complete mental health evaluations and/or assist in alcohol or treatment referrals. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinate mental health/substance abuse services, assess needs, plan for and implement improvement programs; perform Case Management functions for substance use disorders and mental health issues for individual patient and family system utilizing various resources; provide accurate documentation patient history and progress, services provided, and/or other required information. Selective Placement Factor: Must possess licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - Mental Health (MH) or possess equivalent licensure or certification to provide independent behavioral health services. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
