About the Position: This position is with Defense Health Agency, Army Medical Center Madigan with Department of Emergency Medicine, located at Tacoma, Washington.

Duties

Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel. Provide Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch Life Support care through pre-arrival instructions to callers. Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls. Refer non-emergent callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. The position is 24/7 operations that are spilt into 3 shifts: 0715–1545 / 1530 -2330 / 2330-0730
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Dispatch certification within 1 year of employment.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingManages and Organizes InformationReasoning (Clerical/Technical)Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
