You will serve as a WELDER in the MARINE DEPOT MAINTENANCE COMMAND of MCLC ALBANY GA.
Duties
You will weld, in all positions, on most types of metal and alloys in various sizes and shapes including pipes, structural forms, plate, and sheet metal.
You will work with light, heavy gauge and hardened metals and will weld various types of weldable items assigned using various positions.
You will use electric, acetylene and/or inert gas shielded welding processes.
You will use templates, jigs, blueprints and other guides to repair, modify or fabricate metal items for all types of equipment.
You will use measuring devices (e.g., scales, tape measures, rulers, calipers, alignment indicators, micrometers) to perform weld measurements.
You will distinguish the properties of metals, welding techniques, and methods applicable to aluminum, steel, and alloys.
You will follow safety procedures and use proper protective equipment to complete welding tasks in vertical or overhead positions.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to push, pull, lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You must be willing and able to use protective clothing and gear and observe safety precautions.
- You may be recalled to duty outside the normal working hours.
- Must be able to crouch, stoop, push, and pull, Climb and work in awkward or cramped positions for extended amounts of time.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Knowledge of welding standards and how various metals and alloys. Ability to weld recently developed or experimental metals and alloys. Ability to read welding symbol and work from blueprints but may also work from oral instructions, sketches, or from samples to be duplicated.
