Duties

As Senior Hydroelectric Power Controller, your duties will include: Monitoring primary and secondary communications circuits to all system plant facilities. Calculating water flows by utilizing individual unit efficiency measures to determine daily mega-watt loads. Directing switching and tagging operations, issuing clearances, and conducting emergency switching operations. Approving and/or disapproving requests for outages, monitoring and maintaining required voltage levels for power plant components; and monitoring water flow operations. Observing and documenting abnormal operating conditions in the plant; determining nature, cause, and corrective actions to address identified issues. Overseeing control operations to effect changes in water releases. Preparing technical documentation and maintaining data logs. Performing other related duties as assigned within this classification.

Physical Exertion: Position requires the ability to safely and efficiently perform duties involving physical exertion. Must be able to able to lift and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Duties typically involve walking, standing, reaching, stooping and/or bending for extended periods of time, climbing stairs or ladders; and working in confined spaces. Ability to safely traverse over rocky, rooted, and uneven terrain. Work Environment: Requires the ability to safely and efficiently work alone and with others. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. May be subject to prevailing weather and terrain. Works around energized sources and on or around moving equipment. May be exposed to irritation or discomfort typically caused by exposure to dust, heat, noise, vapors, and working on damp floors or ground. Protective personal equipment and clothing is required in accordance with occupational safety and health standards and rules. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, and any selective placement factors (if applicable) by 06/17/2024.
