The incumbent is required to organize and maintain the complex day-to-day operations of the GEC program, to relieve professional staff of as much clerical and administrative details as possible to enable them to devote a major part of their time to clinical and patient focused activities.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Performs routine administrative and miscellaneous clerical work.
Reviews documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies.
Operates and performs routine maintenance on facsimile and copy machines as well as personal computers and printers.
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information.
Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets and retrieve computerized data.
Demonstrates knowledge of timekeeping package, Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel, and other computer programs.
Recognizes the need for, and coordinates, the work of the office with the work of other offices.
Adheres to patient privacy regulations and release of information procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of spelling, grammar, and composition and the ability to determine and follow required formats for correspondence and reports.
Communicates verbally and in writing with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding.
Assists with the procurement of small items and equipment.
Demonstrates the ability to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the program and to recommend resolution of problems in a full range of administrative activities.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/13/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: program development, assisting with data collection, analysis of trends, providing staff support including office operations and information management, providing education on caregiver issues and relevant benefits, planning and development, managing resources, and providing major and complex program, administrative and technical assistance in the day-to-day operations and program planning/evaluation.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. The employee sits comfortably to do the work assignments. At times, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, e.g., papers, books, files, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions, e.g., offices and meeting/training rooms. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
