About the Position: The incumbent will work in the Kings Bay Pharmacy outpatient medical clinic and can expect 8-hour workdays Monday-Friday. Occasional overtime may be required.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.
Duties
The incumbent serves as an expert on pharmaceuticals, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics.
The incumbent monitors the dispensing of all pharmaceuticals at the Pharmacy.
Prepares, conducts, or oversees the training of students, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians on the use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
Advises providers on matters of patient care related to narcotic substances, medication misuse, mismanagement and coordination of patient care.
Provides medication use and disease state education to patients and caregivers in both individual and group settings that effectively meet their needs.
Coordinates efforts with non-pharmacy healthcare staff within Branch Health Clinic Kings Bay to include nursing, providers, ancillary support services, facilities, and IT department.
Evaluates the clinical and financial impact of changes in pharmacy requirements which may arise from legal regulations, Defense Health Agency guidance, or the Department of Defense Pharmacy community.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position may require overtime.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Pharmacist:
Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.
Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes dispensing, ordering, prescribing, and managing drug interactions, while also educating patients.
