You will serve as a WELDER SUPERVISOR in the STRUCTURAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will supervise and distribute work assignments directly to subordinates.
You will plan sequence of operations and work steps for employees supervised.
You will inspect completed work to ensure it conforms to specifications.
You will instruct workers on radiological control principles, practices and methods to ensure proper work procedures are used for specific tasks on nuclear-related systems.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Plan sequence of operations and work steps for employees supervised and personally directs all assignments.
Train subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safe practices, operations of new equipment, safety regulation and other regulations.
Support and implement management programs to subordinates such as Beneficial Suggestions, Safety, Quality Assurance, Cost/Schedule Control Systems, LEAN, Equal Employment Opportunity, etc.
Interpret blueprints accompanying job orders and as required prepare layouts, patterns, and sketches.
Estimate and requisition tools, materials and equipment needed.
Review upcoming workload and estimates/requisitions the consumable materials, special tooling and equipment needed to accomplish the work.
Recommend new equipment/tooling and work processes/procedures that increase efficiency, more economical and improve the safety posture of the detachment.
Maintain records of man-hours expended on the job.
