THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a COMPUTER ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1074000 and is part of the IL AASF 1, National Guard.
Duties
As a COMPUTER ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), GS-0335-9, you will administer and maintain the Aviation Logistics Enterprise-Platform (ALE-P) at the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) and provide guidance to users in the daily operation and maintenance of the ALE-P and serve as the point of contact between the AASF and external supporting organizations (e.g., Combat Service Support Automation Management Office AVCRAD, National Guard).
Major Duties - This is not an all-inclusive list:
Monitor database files from outside sources (e.g., inspection master files, component master files and reportable item files) to ensure data integrity and applicability
Restore deleted data files as necessary and utilize Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the event of ALE-P failure
Create database inquiries to access local information stored in the ALE-P.
Assign, secure, store, and maintain user IDs, passwords and controls individual and group access to the ALE-P.
Troubleshoot common or recurring problems experienced by laptop users.
Assist AASF users in preparing locally designed reports.
Prioritize work and necessary repair actions to ensure operating systems function correctly.
Train or work with personnel on ALE-P changes and procedures.
Ensure data and data files are accurately entered into a system through the Local Area Network (LAN).
Provide advice and recommendations for using and safeguarding ALE-P data and resources against unauthorized disclosure, modification, access, use, destruction or denial of service.
Maintain and update unit parameters and aircraft/weapon systems authorization files to ensure calculated readiness rates are available.
Create local modifications to the Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS) system; modifications within and among systems are created to provide for the communication of data between testing platforms and the STAMIS system.
Work with multiple operating systems with guidelines that are not always specific or may not exist.
Monitor the transfer of data between aircraft laptops and LAN computers to ensure data integrity is maintained; monitor data back-up systems.
Ensure the timely and accurate exchange of maintenance, supply and operational data between individual aircraft laptop computers and the LAN.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Enlisted/Warrant Officer - May not to exceed the rank of CW3.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, training, or education which demonstrates the ability to follow directions, procedures, or systematic work methods which gives evidence of the ability to perform this work; experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes 12 months experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience includes, but is not limited to, maintaining continuity of production control; coordinating work load priorities and scheduling multiple requirements; experience applying optional methods to new or developmental requirements and provide for program dependencies and priorities; experience identifying computer requirements or techniques associated with the development and design of data processing systems; and experience in planning and programming requirements related to computer systems or applications.
