About the Position: The Financial Technician (Nutrition Care) manages all financial and contracting requirements to support operations with the Nutrition Care Division. This position is located at the Bayne Army Community Hospital (BACH) within Fort Johnson, Louisiana. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

Review subsistence contracts and reports to ensure vendors receive accurate financial information. Utilize accounting systems such as Nutrition Management Information System (NMIS) and Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS) to determine the value of food and pricing. With assistance from dining staff, forecast daily census projections of service and food operations using data and personal experience. Use electronic financial systems such as Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) and Defense Finance Accounting System (DFAS) to enter and retrieve financial data. Work with financial institutions to maintain operational cash funds. Participate as a member of the physical inventory team maintaining 100% accountability of the inventory on a monthly basis. Maintains all financial and contracting requirements to support the Nutrition Care Division (NCD) operations. Serve as an alternate for receiving food orders and deliveries.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This is a DOD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 1 within 2 years of appointment. Failure to obtain and maintain certification may result in adverse action.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing financial documents such as invoices, ledger transactions, and/or reports for accuracy; utilizing automated accounting systems, such as Defense Finance Accounting System (DFAS), to enter and retrieve financial data; resolving discrepancies between vendors and an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as finance or accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
