Duties

The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives. The incumbent works with staff consisting of Housekeeping Aid Work Leaders and Housekeeping Aids. Tours of duty may vary depending on the internal department needs with weekdays, weekends, day and evening shift schedules. The applicant must be able to work independently and may act as the Area/General Foreman in their absence. Clean all patient areas, corridor spaces throughout Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned Applies appropriate cleaning solutions to various types of floors (linoleum, wood, or marble), walls, and ceilings to clean and maintain such surfaces Cleans patient rooms using sanitizing chemicals that will not compromise patients health to disinfect surfaces Performs within established guidelines, operating procedures and department and Medical Center policy Ensures time and attendance records are accurate and complete prior to submission to timekeeper Assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision Perform quality inspections of assigned areas, recording discrepancies in cleanliness, needed maintenance repairs, broken or inadequately stored furnishings and equipment Operate powered equipment such as scrubbing machines, buffers, carpet cleaning machines and/or industrial vacuums Keep subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies; control the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit Give special direction to new employees in order to prepare them for individual assignments, procedures and safety policies Schedule regular meetings with staff to make them aware of any new procedures or directives Keep supervisor informed as to the condition of staff, unusual occurrences or matters that should be brought to the attention of their supervisor The Housekeeping Aid executes a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas. The position may be assigned to any tour and may be required to work in various designated areas during any tour of duty. Typically, the position works independently with general supervision, or works with a team and is responsible for the full-range of cleaning duties in an assigned area throughout the medical facility. These duties include, but are not limited to the following: Performs floor maintenance, wall washing. Cleans doors, doorframes, baseboard corners and edges, and stairwells. Tasks are accomplished by sweeping, dust mopping, damp and wet mopping, scrubbing, stripping, refinishing, buffing, vacuuming and extracting carpets and runners, spot cleaning areas, and high and low dusting. Periodically utilizes pressure washers and heavy industrial powered and battery-operated equipment. Adjusts, cleans, and performs minor maintenance on this equipment and changes attachments for their proper use in achieving the best results. Establishes & ensures adherence to work priorities, project schedules, resources, & detailed work plans established by higher-level supervisors. Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, & materials, on a daily, weekly & monthly basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/10/2024. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstance as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders, or when using 30-100-pound power equipment or handling hazardous materials.
