This position is located on the United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service, Plains Area, Sugarbeet and Potato Research in Fargo, North Dakota.
In this position, you will carry out a variety of duties including field plot managements for planting, spraying herbicides, harvesting Sugarbeet roots, and tilling fields after harvesting.
This is a term, time-limited appointment with an initial duration no less than 13 months and can be extended up to a total of 10 years.
Duties
Contribute to the planning of various steps in experiment or project and to interpretation and documentation of findings.
Select appropriate methods and procedures for carrying the project plan to completion.
Provide input into the initial planning of experiments.
Interpret and document findings by preparing information to be included in manuscripts.
Develop various procedures, devise new or improved methods or design specialized equipment.
Tabulate, statistically analyze, and summarize data using personal computers and software packages.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
GS-09
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-09 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-08 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience setting up and conducting an experiment or research project related to molecular biology; collecting, preparing, and evaluating biological samples for sequencing and supporting records; and operating and maintaining scientific equipment.
OR
Education: Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include Biology, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Molecular Biology, and related biological science fields.
OR
A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above.
