About the Position: Serves as Medical Support Assistant for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) at a medical treatment facility (MTF) and provides direct assistance to the FAP staff in providing services to families and coordinating activities with a variety of medical, social service, and legal staff.
Duties
Provide clerical/administrative support to Family Advocacy Programs and/or Social Work Services.
Create a variety of reports pertaining to Family Advocacy Programs (FAP) for the installation.
Coordinate activities with a variety of medical, social services, or legal staff for families.
Operate office automation systems such as Composite Health Care System (CHCS).
Schedule meetings for Case Review Committee (CRC).
Schedule appointments or follow ups for the clinic.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. (Note: Those subject to religious exemption or medical contradictions are exempt from this requirement.)
- Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- One year TERM trial period is required.
- The incumbent of this position must be a qualified typist.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of administrative or clerical duties in a medical clinic such as operating office automation systems; creating correspondence; compiling data or creating reports; scheduling appointments and maintaining files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as [insert applicable field(s) of study].

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
