This position is located in the Shiprock Service Unit, No1ihem Navajo Medical Center, Division of Administrative Services, Nutrition and Dietetics Branch, Shiprock, NM. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Food Service Worker to provide quality food service to patients, employees and guests through food preparation, service and sanitation. Hours of duty are rotating and include holiday and weekend shifts.

Duties

Prepare beverages uncooked food items, nourishments, supplemental feedings and special formulas according to standardized recipes. Perform food service duties requiring knowledge and application of special food service procedures for patients on special and regular diets. Use and clean a variety of tools, utensils, and equipment. Stock supplies in a commercial kitchen. Assist in the delivery and return of food trays and carts to and from patient rooms. Maintains pertinent diet records. Prepares work orders for maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): No specific length of experience is required. Applicants will be rated based on their responses to the assessment questions included in this vacancy announcement and the information contained in their resume. Screen-out Elements: Do you have the experience and training to follow oral and written instructions/work orders to perform the work of a Food Service Worker without more than normal supervision as described in the vacancy announcement? WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in kitchen areas where employees are regularly exposed to noise variations, hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, extreme temperature changes, humidity, potentially hazardous chemicals, slippery floors and enclosed areas. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
