You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Safety Department of HELICOPTER SEA COMBAT WING PAC FLEET.
Duties
You will administer and execute safety programs as directed by Federal, Naval, State, Local, Region, Wing, and Command regulations, instructions, rules and polices.
You will assist the Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) and Ground Safety officer (GSO) in all mishap and personal injury investigations.
You will prepare the Squadron for the monthly Fire Marshall Inspection and the annual NAVOSH Inspection.
You will perform weekly and monthly inspections on all safety related equipment to include eyewash stations, alarms and fire extinguishers.
You will promote and educate workers in safety strategies, controls, and mishap prevention techniques.
You will schedule the monthly Enlisted Safety Committee meetings and record and distribute minutes to Safety Council.
You will liaison with Work Center Safety Petty Officers to develop effective Safety training programs that include required/mandatory training.
You will represent the Safety Department on all plane captain qualification boards.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting investigations of mishaps, incidents and hazardous conditions for a safety and occupational health program to evaluate current safety procedures and develop recommendations for eliminating accidents and controlling potential hazards.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
