About the Position: This position is that of a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant within the Physical TherapyDepartment at the various facilities throughout Naval Health Clinic New England. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Instruct family members/caregivers in appropriate interventions for home program. Maintain health records. Provide feedback to patients to correct form with exercises. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Assess and report on patients. Perform a variety of treatments such as Electrical stimulation, ultrasound, phonophoresis, iontophoresis, hot packs, cold packs, cervical and lumbar mechanical traction.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing physical therapy treatment plans; and providing patient status reports to patient and/or Physical Therapist; maintain electronic health records and/or files in accordance with regulations and guidelines; review records to maintain and improve quality of care. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or Exercise Science. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. AND License/Certification: A current, active, valid and unrestricted license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States is required.
