Duties
Typical work assignments include:
Assist in designing, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems and components.
Collaborate with experienced engineers on project planning and execution.
Conduct research and analysis to support project objectives and technical solutions.
Participate in prototype development, assembly, and testing activities.
Learn and apply industry standards, regulations, and best practices in electronics engineering.
Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations to the electronics engineering team.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
Have obtained a qualifying bachelors or graduate degree from a qualifying educational institution, within two years of submitting an application for appointment or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from the date of application. The two-year eligibility period begins on the date the degree is received, not the date of the graduation ceremony.; OR
As a veteran (as defined in 5 USC 2108), who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Program during the two-year eligibility period described above. These individuals have a full two-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may this eligibility period extend beyond six years from the date on which the individual completed their academic requirements.
IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC ELIGIBILITY ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required education and/or experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.- OR
B. Combination of education and experience: -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You qualify for the GS-07 grade level, if you have:
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level (or equivalent) performing two (2) of the following duties:
Applying basic engineering principles and expertise to issues that impact on national security, emergency preparedness, public safety communication systems, and other communications technologies (e.g., telecommunications, Wi-Fi, cloud, satellite, etc.).
Assist with analyzing computer and wireless technologies for insertion and integration into current and emerging communications products.
Assist with developing presentations and communicating technologies for use in meetings, briefings, and organizational settings.

EDUCATION:
A. One (1) full year of graduate level education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited institution that included major study in professional engineering. - OR
B. Completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in professional engineering. -OR
C. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that included major study in a professional engineering program with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (G.P.A.), or (3) honor society membership.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage by dividing your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then determine your education as a percentage by dividing the total number of completed graduate education by 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify at this grade level.
You qualify for the GS-09 grade level, if you have:
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) performing two (2) of the following duties:
Applying basic engineering principles and expertise to issues that impact on national security, emergency preparedness, public safety communication systems, and other communications technologies (e.g., telecommunications, Wi-Fi, cloud, satellite, etc.).
Analyzing computer and wireless technologies for insertion and integration into current and emerging communications products.
Developing presentations and communicating technologies for use in meetings, briefings, and organizational settings.

EDUCATION:
A. Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited institution that included major study in professional engineering. -OR
B. Two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree from an accredited institution that included major study in professional engineering. -OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage by dividing your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then determine your education as a percentage by dividing the total number of completed graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate education minus 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours) by 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify at this grade level. - OR
B. One (1) full year of appropriate professional experience. -AND- Completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in professional engineering. -OR
C. One (1) full year of appropriate professional experience. -AND- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that included major study in a professional engineering program with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (G.P.A.), or (3) honor society membership.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

You must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private U.S. organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
