About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Ensure that needed materials are available to accomplish projects. Advise employees to meet deadlines for projects. Ensure that housekeeping rules are followed according to Army regulations. Provide information to supervisor on status of projects according to procedures. Issue instructions received by the supervisor to employees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Federal Wage Systems employees, WG/WL/WS etc, must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.
  • Incumbent must have a valid State Driver's License.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain a Forklift license with a lifting capacity of less than 10,000 pounds within 90 days of employment.

Incumbent frequently lifts, moves or carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Incumbent is exposed to dirt, dust, grease, oils, cleaning agents and disagreeable fumes from cleaning and preserving chemicals. Work involves continuous standing, walking and repeated bending and stooping. Some of the work is performed in buildings that are adequately heated, lighted and ventilated. Other work is performed in semi-open shed that is wet, greasy and slippery and incumbent is subjected to all weather conditions. Possibility of falls, cuts, bruises, scrapes, burns from steam and skin, nose and eye irritation when working with or in close proximity to toxic chemicals. Incumbent is required to wear protective clothing such as rubber boots, gloves, aprons, goggles and safety shoes.
