About the Position: This position is located at the 61st Medical Group, Los Angeles Air Force Base, located just south of Los Angeles International Airport and less than a mile west of the San Diego Freeway (I-405) in the city of El Segundo, near beach, mountain and desert recreational activities.

Duties
Conduct reception duties such as greeting and directing patients, answering incoming calls, referring calls and messages, and answering questions from inside and outside sources.
Review medical records to ensure they are maintained according to regulations/instructions and other established guidelines.
Perform clerical duties to include reviewing and composing of correspondence, ordering supplies, maintaining calendars, and screening incoming mail and electronic messages.
Provide patient education on upcoming procedures, and information such as registration, parking, clinic hours, locations, obtaining medical records, referrals, and/or insurance.
Resolve appointment conflicts due to late appointments, emergencies, or walk ins, ensuring all patients will be seen in a timely manner.
Assist doctors and health professionals with extracting medical records and/or documentation from patients.
Transcribe reports and uploads results into the Electronic Medical Record for each modality.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Tuberculosis Testing is required.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating patient appointments; performing clerical/receptionist duties in a medical and/or clinic setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
NOTE: This position has a typing requirement which requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
