This position will be filled in the Central Reexamination Unit. The purpose of this unit is to consolidate and process to conclusion supplemental examination requests, patent reexamination and reissue cases. As a Supervisory Patent Reexamination Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, assigning work, and collaborating with peers and subordinates to assure effective services.

Qualifications
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experience: is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-15 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience as a Primary Examiner applying engineering and/or scientific concepts to the patent examining process; analyzing and evaluating unique quality issues with respect to patent examination. Consolidating and processing to conclusion all of the pending supplemental examination requests, reexamination proceedings, and reissue applications that are grouped by technology center subject matter. The reexamination proceedings include both ex parte and inter partes cases and may pose difficult technical and legal problems, frequently involve litigation, and may be subject to extensive national publicity. Must have full signatory authority.

Education
Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level.
